    No the default state of the interfaces is administratively down. You have to enable it for it to come up.

    I thought that the interfaces were enabled right out of the box except for the VLAN 1 interface. Are they not?

    Well in version 3 i know there’s already a serial interface on the terminals, but on the back of the router when you chose the interface from the list, serial shows up. I think you need a rollover.

    I am using packet tracer5.0 to do the experiment ,but I don’t know how I can add a fastethernet interface and serial interface.
    I hope someone can help me!

    well this is a network simulator program. And telnet is a protocol, you can access with a command built into windows, just type ‘telnet ‘ip” It’s the same for most unix too.

    Look for the software program called youtomato. This will allow you to burn youtube videos to a disk.

    The 5.0 already came out. Not all that much changed ofcourse, but at least it lets u do the “do” command to not have to exit from wherever u are all the time
