How does the web determine the ip address from the doman name?
When you setup a website on Windows Server 2003, and you enter the private ip address under the website properties, how does the end client find the IP address from just using the domain name? Also, since the IP address entered is private, how is this even possible? How do I associate my registered domain name to the ip address that I have configured on the website? The IP address provided is private because the windows server 2003 box is behind the router, and I am assuming NAT is being done on that router. Setting up port forwarding on the router is necessary I know.

The DNS servers job is to resolve IP addresses to things humans can remember. For example, you may type in and the DNS server will convert that to a number something like 76.128.21.1
