How to access my network printer from a new notebook running Windows Vista?

TexanByChoice asked:

My Epson 880 is a local printer connected to a Compaq computer shared on my home network. I have a new notebook running Windows Vista, wirelessly connected to the same network. When trying to access that shared printer, using Add Printer, I get this message: Access Denied. What are the steps to remedy this?

My guess is that your firewall is preventing the connection. Go into the options for your firewall and set your local network to be trusted.
