How to setup a network with a network switch?
I have no router, just a network switch. I don’t really need internet access on the client machine.
Anyhow, how do I set it up so both computers can share files and printer access?
Is a crossover cable different from a standard ethernet cable?
I have the printer directly connected to one computer. The computer is connected to the switch, and the switch connects to the other computer.
Thanks!
Do I need to map the drives in order to share files?

Using a switch, you will need crossover cables to connect the computer to the switch. How is your printer connected?

You just need to connect your computers to the switch using ethernet cable and run the Network Setup wizard on Windows Xp or Vista, if that is what you are using.
That should set up the network

Then do the sharing wizard, it should enable the rest to work. All machines have to be in the same workgroup – remember that…
